Who are we?

We are a small Estonian company engaged in the collection and sale of natural spruce resin. We gather resin from Estonian forests; while we collect a large portion ourselves, we also collaborate with other harvesters, sourcing high-quality spruce resin from them to offer to customers both in Estonia and abroad. It is important to us that our spruce resin comes from a pristine environment and is harvested in a way that protects the trees. We collect resin from forests located far away from major human activity and industrial zones. In such environments, trees grow in a clean natural setting, with minimal impact from their surroundings. We harvest the spruce resin by hand, ensuring the trees remain unharmed. Our goal is to collect natural resin without damaging the tree, allowing it to continue its natural growth. We place great value on forest conservation and respect for nature. For us, the method of harvesting is just as important as the high quality of the resin itself. We offer natural, carefully harvested Estonian spruce resin to individuals and businesses who value pure, natural raw materials and their versatile range of uses.

What is spruce resin?

Spruce resin is a natural substance produced by the spruce tree itself, playing a vital role in protecting the tree. When a spruce tree sustains damage, it begins to secrete resin from the injured area. The resin covers the wound, helping the tree to protect itself. We collect spruce resin from forests where trees have been damaged naturally, causing the resin to flow out onto their surfaces. We gather it by hand, without causing any harm to the trees. This allows us to make use of resin that has formed naturally, without needing to injure the trees to obtain it.

What is spruce resin used for?

Spruce resin is valued for its antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties.
Spruce resin can help care for irritated and damaged skin, supporting the skin’s natural healing process. It is used, for example, in the care of skin cracks, abrasions, and minor skin injuries.

Spruce resin is used, for example, in:

  • In the preparation of ointments and skincare products. In the Nordic countries, spruce resin ointment has been used for centuries.
  • In natural cosmetic products, resin gives the products a characteristic natural composition and woody, forest-like aroma
  • In wound care products: preparations based on spruce resin have been studied for use in wound care.
  • In the preparation of incense: when heated, the resin releases a characteristic fresh and woody scent.
  • In the making of candles and other handicraft products.

How is spruce resin formed in the forest?

Spruce resin forms naturally within the tree. When a tree sustains an injury—for example, if a storm breaks a branch or damages the trunk—the spruce begins to secrete resin from the affected area. Over time, the resin thickens and hardens, remaining on the tree’s surface. It is precisely this naturally occurring resin, secreted by the tree itself, that we seek out in the forest. Our principle is simple: we do not injure the tree to obtain the resin; instead, we collect only the resin that the tree has already secreted as a result of a natural injury. In this way, we are able to offer natural Estonian spruce resin while showing respect for the forest and its trees.
